This is a stunning larger barn frame for almost any application and re-purposed use. Has all the components of what we consider a great barn frame for conversion purposes. Would make a perfect barn for event venues such as weddings, company dinners, etc. as well as a great starting point a larger barn home conversion. Plenty of side wall height for 2 stories to give you very high side wall on both first floor and second floor. Has an unusual abundance of 45 degree knee braces (wind bracing) and a beautiful canted purlin system to support the roof that provides the frame with extra structural strength that engineers love.
This barn also has an existing 10' x 36' loft with in tack floor joist between the Swing beam and loft beam. The loft beam was supported with 4"x 4" studs so that the early farmers could store grain in the lower level (grain rooms) and load the loft area with hay. The timber floor joist in the loft all sit in notches on both the Swing and Loft beams and the whole unit is a very attractive and stunning early timber frame element. Hopefully we could work this (or some variation of this) into whatever re -purposed use this barn has in store for itself.
All main Posts and Beams and Main Girts are Hand Hewn pine with sawn Knee Braces, some girts and rafters and there are very few timbers missing in the frame which is very unusual. The Rafter Plates and Purlins are all 60' long Practically everything is still in tack.
